"High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation."
Charles Kettering
What do you expect will happen in your life? If you are like most people, you expect to see more of what is happening now. One of the most difficult things that we can do is to ignore the evidence our senses notice all around us and instead focus on something completely different. This is especially true when we are in physical pain. Precedent is even important in our law. It is also true, however, that once we are able to do this, the rewards are immense.
When we expect things to go on in the same way that they have done in the past, our lives don't change very much. We don't make significantly more money than we have done in the past, or have significantly better relationships, or have significantly better health. We live in our comfort zone, whether we like it or not, because that is what we are used to. That becomes part of our ego's definition of who we are.
The only way to aquire something significantly different than what you are used to is to expect to acquire it. Expectation of something better happens when you want to acheive something and you also beleive that you can acheive it.
Belief comes from confidence in your abilities, and this is where many of us fall down. We simply are not confident that we indeed have the ability to make a change. That can only really come from seeing ourselves actually accomplish things. Many people have started with just small things, and with practise and continued good results, their confidence in their abilities has grown.
If you want to acheive great things, you must expect them. You must believe that you can produce them, and you must really want to. When your expectations and desires come together, that's when success really happens.
