Regret

"I want to set a precedent for my children. They won't hear me say on my deathbed that I wish I had lived my life differently"
Francis Ford Coppola

Do you wish you had lived your life differently? What would you have done differently? People at the end of their lives regret what they didn't do far more than anything they did do. They regret that they never left their comfort zone. They never tried something different. They never went after their dreams. They spent their time going about their routines and paying attention to the most urgent responsibilities. They said to themselves "Someday, I'll get around to it" and before they knew it, there were no more somedays left. Don't let that happen to you.

If you have a dream, start taking action towards it today, even if they are baby steps. There is no reason to wait. After all, you could be dead tomorrow. It is so easy to get caught up in all the things you are doing now, that you are used to doing, no matter how much we long for something different. Urgent matters are shouting for our attention all the time. We have to prioritize our actions, responding to the important matters first no matter how urgent the unimportant ones are.

Live your life exactly the way you want it. Do the things you want to do before you wake up one day and don't have the health to enjoy them. The real fun in life is exploring and learning and trying out things that you have never done before. The only time you can enjoy this is in the present, right now. If you want to really live life, then don't keep putting it off. Tomorrow may never come. Enjoy the life you want while you still can. Set a precedent for your children. If you don't do what you want now, you will regret it later. You don't want your children to hear about your regrets.
