Zest is defined at spirited, vigorous, enthusiastic enjoyment. To me, that's passion for life.
If you don't have a passion for life, then you are not really living. Life was meant to be enjoyed enthusiastically and vigorously. There are so many wonderful things in the world, it's hard to imagine feeling dull and uninterested. Yet so many people plod through their days with no enjoyment. "Thank God It's Friday", as though only the weekends are worth living. That's not attractive.

Why is something beautiful? I think it is because we want to be reminded that life is wonderful. Deep inside us there is something that longs to feel that sense of wonder we felt as children; that vigorous, enthusiastic enjoyment of life. When we see something that has this quality, we connect to it at our deepest level, and love it. That's why we think it's beautiful.
