"Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life."
Eleanor Roosevelt
I once heard a woman comment something like "Why should my child be learning about bioluminescence. She's never going to need to know about that for her job" I thought to myself, "How dull the world would be if we only learned what was necessary for us to do our job! We would miss out on so many fascinating things." It is a shame that there are people who have no interest in the world around them, because there are so many interesting things to discover.
The truth is that if we are not curious we are not learning, and we are not growing. In effect, we die inside, because growth and improvement are the essense of life itself. If we have no desire to learn about what is going on around us, if we have no curiosity, then we truly have turned our back on life. We are alive but we are going around like a zombie, not really living. It is so much better to live in that child-like state of wonder, to be always asking questions. Be curious, learn, grow, and truly live your life.
