"The road to happiness lies in two simple principles: find what it is that interests you and that you can do well, and when you find it put your whole soul into it - every bit of energy and ambition and natural ability you have."
John D. Rockefeller
You can't be successful doing something that you aren't really interested in. People will be able to tell that and won't want to do business with you. Of course, it also has to be something that is a natural strength for you. I beleive that it is the most important and perhaps difficult task in a person's life to determine what it is that he both loves the most and is the best at. You need to find the place in which your talents and your passions meet.
Then, once you have found that thing, you must throw yourself into it. You need to focus on it. There are so many distractions around us these days that most people have trouble just paying attention to one or two things. But "A Jack of all trades is master of none". If you spend all your time working on just one or two things, however, you can create something really magnificent.
