Choices

"The way I see it is you have two choices in life; you can be grateful for everything life has given you or you can be resentful for everything life has done to you. Your degree of happiness is directly proportional to the conviction of your choice."
Enzo D'Alimonte

Can you truly say that you are grateful for everything that life has given you? Most of us are grateful for certain things in our life and resentful for others. We see circumstances in one or more areas of our life that are not making us happy. We have this beleif that everything in our life should make us happy; that the world should revolve around our own wants and needs.

We tend to focus on the absence of what we think we need in order to be happy. Sometimes we know what will make us happy, at least for a while. Other times we think something will make us happy but when we get it, it turns out to be a big mistake. Almost all the time, we think we will be happier in the future when something we want comes into our lives. So we are rarely happy in the present.

You can choose to notice and pay attention to all the blessings in your life. You can choose to be grateful for everything that comes into your life. You can choose to welcome even things that (initially) are unwanted, and look for the opportunities that are inherent in them. This is how you find real happiness.
