"You learn in life that the only person you can really correct and change is yourself."
Katharine Hepburn
Most of us spend most of our lives wishing we could change other people. We want them to like us. We want them to be like us. We want them to agree with us. We want them to do the same things we would do if we were in their situation. We want them to help us acheive our own goals. We want them to have no faults or annoying characteristics. That's a pretty tall order. Especially since the other person thinks that you should be just like them etc.
You can't change other people. They are there for their own unique purpose just as you are there for yours. It is not up to you to decide what they should be like, and more than it is up to them to decide what you should be like. We all have to live our own lives and be our own person.
The only person you can really correct and change is yourself. Indeed to change yourself in a positive way, to grow, is why you are here on earth. You must correct and change yourself if you are to really live. If everyone would spend as much or more, energy in improving themselves as they do in trying to improve everyone else, the world would be a much better place.
